Could be 5 stars

Out of the box this reel in the 1000 size looked and felt like a great reel. After just a few months of use the finish is coming off is a few areas on the reel. I know that asthetics shouldn't be a primary factor in choosing a spinning reel but we all know that it is. Aside from the finish wearing off way too early the reel still feels smooth as silk. I'm largely evaluating this reel against a Diawa BG in a similar size that I've had for a little over 2 years. The Bahia still feels better than my Diawa BG, at half the cost, but the Diawa has seen much more use than the Bahia and its finish still looks out of the box. Time will tell if the feel of the Bahia holds up 2, 3 years from now.

Bahia wow

Smooth and powerful. Caught couple 30 + inch snook and a red first day and was surprised how well drag held up!

I’ve throwing these reels for 4 years now and have yet to have one single complaint. They hold up forever and the drag stays buttery smooth. I can’t get enough of FFP

Replacing all other brands with Florida Fishing Products Reels

My name is Bob Maindelle, owner of Holding the Line Guide Service. I hunt white bass year 'round in the reservoirs of Central Texas. I was first introduced to FFP while fishing with a guide near Gulf Breeze, Florida. I was impressed with how smooth the reel and the drag were. Then, I was blown away when I found out that the reel I was using had been used for three years, in salt water, with no repairs required. I got a set of six FFP reels for my boat and those six reels are now on the six rods to which I have my Bladed Hazy Eye Slabs tied. These will be the single most-used reels on my boat from November through March. The Bahia 1000's gear ratio moves about 24 inches of line per handle turn and that is just right for white bass, hybrid stripers, and any by-catch of drum or blue catfish that we might encounter. Love these reels! These 6 Bahias join the 12 Osprey CE 2500s already in use on my boat, for a total of 18 FFP reels now in service for my guide service. I'm slowly phasing out all other spinning reels with FFP reels.

Absolutely love the Bahia I have the 4000 and it more than handles any fish I get on the hook I landed a 45 inch black drum on it a couple weeks ago and never been more shocked to see a lightweight setup handle that big of fish truly amazing gear you guys put out.

SWFL’s Best!

I’ve been using Osprey CEs for two years, and they are still great reels. It’s difficult to compare a brand new Bahia to two year old heavily used reels, but so far it has exceeded my expectations.
