I’ve been in the guide business for over 6 years and had bought numerous reels in the $200 plus range. I was tired of only getting 2 years, or less, use out of them. At the conclusion of my ‘24 season, I made it a point to talk with other trusted operators, whom I knew, and Kyle with Florida Fishing Products. So, in December ‘24, I ordered six Osprey CE Pro 3000 series reels for my charter fishing business. After 4 months of limited use, my confidence continued to grow and I ordered two more of the same. It’s 8/20/25, and I have only had one minor issue but that was to be expected when a client accidentally gave one a dip in the salt. I removed the handle and end cap, let it dry, and applied some lubricant to it….good to go. And no worries because Florida Fishing Products service plan is just as solid as their commitment to their craft.
I’ve yet to have any drag failures from any of these while targeting reds, trout, black drum, jacks, and Spanish with 10# braid. Knowing that the fish are only going to get bigger over the next few months, I just received my latest order of Bahia 4000 series spooled with 30# Distance Braid. I look forward to more time spent catching rather than losing it to fighting and reviving oversized fish.
