Spoon Fishing for Redfish on the Outer Banks North Carolina

"Kristi and I got a call from a friend Aaron Beatson who runs Cobia Killer Charters in Oregon Inlet, Outer Banks, North Carolina to fish for redfish in the marsh. Fishing with weedless spoons are some of the most proven and versatile lures for fishing- and for reds- spoon fishing is extremely effective. Whether you are red fishing Texas, Florida or Louisiana, spoon fishing is excellent choice for fishing grass and it allows you to cover water."

Rod: 7’2” Favorite Phantom Medium Heavy

Reel: Florida Fishing Products Osprey 3000

Line: 15lb braid tied to 20 lb mono leader

Lure: 1oz Gold Spoon (Johnson Weedless Spoon)

Technique: We casted spoons against grass lines where the redfish (red drum) were trapping bait. We looked for areas that held bait and had active bait around such as jumping mullet- and we worked those areas.
